About Me

My background

Need a Top-Tier Editor or Writing Coach? Look No Further.

Holding an Ed.D. from USC, a J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and University of Missouri, and over a decade of experience transforming writing—from elementary-level essays to federal court briefs.

With 10+ years in K–12 public education and 7+ years in special education, I’ve helped students, professionals, and organizations master the English language. I’ve served as a law school teaching assistant, law review member, and even a federal court law clerk. Whether it’s crafting compelling college essays, editing million-dollar legal contracts, or creating viral social media campaigns, I’ve done it all.

Recognized by LAUSD as Rookie of the Year, District Intern of the Year, and Humanities Award recipient, I’ve presented at multiple inclusion conferences and led district-wide education reform. My work has improved school systems, won grants, and supported student achievement—especially for English learners and students with special needs.

From national TV scripts to multi million dollar contracts… to my mother’s email—there’s no job I can’t do when it comes to the English language.

My writing roots

I became a writer not by choice—but by necessity.

Growing up in a Japanese-American household, I learned early that words held power. My parents, though brilliant and hardworking, often struggled with English fluency. Whether it was translating bills, writing school notes, or navigating legal documents, I was the one called on to speak, explain, and advocate on their behalf—even before I fully understood the world myself.

From the time I was a child, I became the bridge between my family and the world around us.

I saw how people judged them—not by their hearts or intellect—but by their English. I noticed how a single misused word or broken sentence could lead to misunderstandings, missed opportunities, or outright disrespect. I realized how unfair that was. And I made it my mission to master the English language—not just for me, but for them.

That responsibility turned into a passion. I honed my skills across every level of writing: from crafting simple school essays to drafting federal court briefs as a law clerk, from editing marketing campaigns to writing college application essays that helped students chase their dreams. I didn’t just learn to write—I learned to empower.

Language became my tool for equity, advocacy, and excellence.

I know that whether you’re applying to college, making a legal argument, creating an ad campaign, or simply sending an email—how you communicate matters. People will judge you by your words. That’s why I’m committed to helping others communicate clearly, professionally, and powerfully—because I’ve lived what happens when you’re not heard.

My work is more than a service. It’s a promise—to help others be understood in the way they deserve to be.

My style

My journey as a writer started out of necessity—translating the world for my Japanese-American family. From a young age, I became their voice, learning how to navigate complex systems in a language that wasn’t their own. That responsibility became a passion. Over the years, it evolved into mastery.

I have written and edited in nearly every imaginable format and tone. Whether you're drafting a personal email or presenting to a federal judge, I can adapt to your voice—then elevate it with precision, consistency, and power.

Here’s a sample of the writing styles I’ve mastered:

🔹 Legal Writing – I’ve written and edited judicial opinions for federal court judges, and crafted briefs and motions for attorneys in multi-million-dollar cases. My legal writing is clear, persuasive, and grounded in precedent.

🔹 Business Writing – From formal corporate reports to marketing copy for ad campaigns and social media, I’ve written materials that drive revenue and connect with audiences—from local businesses to national brand contracts like Target and Disney.

🔹 Academic & Research Writing – With an Ed.D. from USC, J.D., and M.B.A., I’ve written and edited research papers, dissertations, and essays using formats like APA and MLA. I’ve supported students from high school to grad school—helping them refine their voice and meet academic standards.

🔹 Education & Special Education – I’ve instructed and tutored students with IEPs, English learners, and gifted writers to express their ideas clearly, effectively, and confidently. I understand how to scaffold writing support for any learner, at any level.

🔹 Creative & Script Writing – I’ve edited TV and movie scripts written for national audiences, bringing clarity, pacing, and emotional punch to every line. I also support writers of comic books, speeches, and other narrative formats.

🔹 Personal & Casual Writing – From editing heartfelt college essays to helping a parent send a polished email, I treat every project with the same level of care and professionalism. Your tone is always preserved—just strengthened.

What sets me apart isn’t just my versatility. It’s my commitment to your voice. I do not overwrite or impose. I listen, refine, and enhance—bringing in accurate grammar, logical flow, consistent tone, and professional polish. I help you say what you mean—but better.

Whatever your writing goal, I can help you meet it—while making sure your words are a true reflection of who you are.
